CAQ candidate Mathieu Lvesque wins in Chapleau

Mathieu Lvesque of the Coalition Avenir Qubec has won the Gatineau riding of Chapleau.

Liberal stronghold falls to the Coalition Avenir Qubec

MathieuLvesqueof theCoalitionAvenirQubechas wonthe east Gatineau riding of Chapleau.

Lvesquehas 40.4per cent of the vote with all polls reporting. His closest challenger Liberal MarcCarrirehad 32.6 per cent of the vote.

Carrire hadheld the seat since 2008.

The riding had been Liberal since it was created in 1981.

Lvesque of theCoalition Avenir Qubecwas up against Carrirealong with retail worker Blake Ippersiel of the Parti Qubcois, and Alexandre Albert of the Qubec Solidaire.
