5 charged after Cannabis Culture shop raided by Ottawa police

Five people have been charged with drug-related offencesafter Ottawa police raided anillegal marijuana dispensary on Bank Street Thursday morning.

Police executed the search warrant at Cannabis Culture at 391 Bank St. at about 11 a.m.

The five people were arrested without incident, the Ottawa Police Service said in a statement Thursday evening.

They each face five counts of possession of a schedule 2substance for the purpose of trafficking, as well as one count each of possessing the proceeds of crime under $5,000.

They were all released on a promise to appear, police said.

Marijuana, hashish, cash seized

Officers seized marijuana, hashish, and variouscannabis extracts during Thursday's raid, as well as digital scales and $1,850 in Canadian currency.

The raid comes one dayafter "Prince of Pot" Marc Emery and his wife Jodie were arrested in Toronto Wednesday evening. They were expected to appear in court Thursday.

Search warrants were executed Thursday morning at Cannabis Culture shops in Toronto, Hamilton and Vancouver, Toronto police said, as part of an investigation dubbed "Project Gator."

The raid in Ottawa is not part of that investigation, Toronto police said.
