Long before the game show host hit the Jeopardy stage, Alex Trebek hosted Dominion Day on Parliament Hill.

Jeopardyhost Alex Trebek is in town this week to receive the keys to the city, but it's not the first time the famous game show host has been in the Ottawa spotlight.

We dug through the CBC archives and found footage of Trebek from 50 years ago, including the then 25-year-oldperforming a songwith Miss Canada, Diane Landry.

The occasion?Trebek was co-hostingthe 1966 Dominion Day show with Henri Bergeron on Parliament Hill.

So obscure was this performance that Trebek himself, when reached by All in a Day host Alan Neal, said had no memory of it.

"I can't remember doing that with Henri and Diane Landry," he said, laughing.

"I do remember hosting the centennial entertainment program [the following year]... right in front of the Peace Tower, with Henri as the co-host, but I do not remember the previous year's event. Isn't that strange."

Jeopardy host Alex Trebek got his broadcasting career start in Ottawa -- and All in a Day has the archival tape to prove it. The show takes a walk down memory lane with Trebek as he arrives to receive the key to the city of Ottawa.

You can watch the young Trebek in the video above.
