A fundraiser for a family in Wyses Corner, N.S., has brought in thousands to help after three members of the family were murdered in January.

The bodies of Bill, Ida and Ann Ward were found after a house fire on Jan.7. Police later determined they were murdered.

Ann Ward's daughter, 15-year-old Nikita, is now an orphan.

Friends of the family are now trying to support the teen, hosting auctions and starting an online donation website.

Dozens of items were donated to help the grieving family pay for the funerals and other costs.

Some of the items were sold at an auction Saturday night at a bar in Enfield, bringing in more than$25,000. A second auction is planned to start online on Monday.

Codey Hennigar, 30, is charged with themurders. He's the son and grandson of the victims. He's scheduled to be back in court on Feb. 13.
