Police in Cape Breton are still hunting forthe person who killedan 82-year-old war veteran in Dominiontwo months ago.

Harold (Buster) Slaunwhite was found dead in his home on Sept. 10 by a relative.

Cape Breton Regional Police renewed their appeal for information on Wednesday, saying someone in the community couldhelp solve the case.

"Frankly, we are frustrated because we believe that there are persons in this community, or in the surrounding communities, that have information that will assist us in our investigation," said Sgt. Ken O'Neill.

Murray McNeil, who lives a few houses away from Slaunwhite's home, was hoping to hear about an arrest. He says people in the neighbourhood are scared.

"It's a dark, quiet street, and people will feel uneasy until it's solved," McNeil said.

Police are still not saying how Slaunwhite was killed.

The Second World War veteran was seen driving his blue Taurus around town on Sept. 9, the day before he was found dead.

Neighbours said Slaunwhite, who lived alone, was often troubled by young vandals, who would break his trees and once torched his picnic table.
