Nova Scotia Rendez-vous 2017: Ports announced for tall-ship regatta

The Nova Scotia tall ship tour and regatta is in honour of the 150th anniversary of Confederation.

People can view the tall ships from Digby to Sydney

Tall ships will visit 10 ports next summer in Nova Scotia - and be part of a sailpast in the Annapolis Basin - to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation.

Tall ships will visit 10communities around Nova Scotia next summer, the provincial government has announced.

Nova Scotia is hosting the Rendez-vous 2017 tall ship regatta. Betweenlate June and mid August that year, the shipswill stop in the following ports:

  • Lunenburg.
  • Pictou.
  • Sydney.
  • St.Peter's.
  • Louisbourg.
  • Pugwash.
  • Port Hawkesbury.
  • Halifax.
  • Shelburne.
  • Digby.

There will also be an evening sailpast in the Annapolis Basin.

The summer-long eventis in honour of the 150thanniversary of Confederation. It willinclude stops in Quebec, Ontario and elsewhere in the Maritimes. The Bluenose II is expected to participate.

Nova Scotia's government is spending $1.5million on the event, which is expected to bring in thousands of tourists.

CBC is a sponsor of the Tall Ships Festival to be held in Halifax from July 28 to Aug.2, 2017.
