The Downtown Dartmouth Business Commission is hoping a new brand for its downtown core will put the area in a new light.

Dartmouth is often jokingly called the "darkside", but its new image is trying to bring people 'All Together'.

At a launch party on Monday, Executive Director Tim Olive said they are thrilled by their bright new logo.

"We used to get a bad rep, they won't dare give us a bad rep anymore," he said. "We are the place to be. We are an urban village within a large municipality."

The Downtown Business Cormmision is hoping 'All Together Downtown Dartmouth' will embody a rapidly expanding downtown core.

The community is also hoping to shake the feeling that it's the 'other' side of the bridge. The DDBC will put up new street signs and posters in an effort to sell its new brand as a vibrant city.

Premier Darrel Dexter was also on hand at the announcement.

"I think we're seeing an extraordinary new vibrance in the downtown," he said. "It has an extraordinary history, and I think it's going to have an extraordinary future."

"This is truly the start of the next generation downtown," said Olive.
