Sidney CrosbyParkway is a step closer to becoming a realityafter Halifax regional council voted unanimously Tuesday for a staff report that willlook into renaming a Cole Harbour street after the 28-year-old Stanley Cup-winning player.

The idea originated from Crosby's former hockey and baseball coach, Paul Mason, who wanted something visible in Cole Harbour to honour its most famous citizen.

Should staff recommend the name change go ahead, and council agree, Forest Hills Parkwaywould be renamed Sidney Crosby Parkway.

Crosby a 'great ambassador'

"Sidney is a great ambassador, a lot of the comments I have heard is he's arole model to our youth," said Coun. Lorelei Nicoll, who brought the motion to council.
