School bus crashes in Middle Sackville, no students on board

RCMP responded to a collision involving a school bus on Wednesday afternoon. No students were on board, but RCMP say the bus driver experienced a medical emergency, which they believe caused the crash.

A school bus crashed into several parkedvehicles and a house on Tuesday afternoon in Middle Sackville, N.S., after the driver had a medical emergency.

RCMP responded to the collision on Executive Drive at approximately 1:40 p.m.

No students were on board, according to Cpl. Guillaume Tremblay.

Tremblay said the male bus driver was taken to hospital by ambulance and he didn't have any information about the man's condition.

Terry Biles, who lives next door to the home that was struck, witnessed the accident and jumped into action.

He said he and another person pulled the driver out of the bus and realized the manwas experiencing what they believed to be symptoms of a heart attack.

Biles said they did CPR on him until paramedics arrived.

"I'm a veteran, so I guess that operational mindset kicked in, and I just went into game mode," said Bilesat the scene.

Tremblay could not say which school the bus was serving, or which company the driver works for.

He said up to four vehicles were struck and there were no other known injuries.
