SIRT investigating N.S. RCMP officer accused of sexual assault

AnRCMP officer has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman in the Pictou, N.S., area.

On Wednesday, Nov. 6, Pictou District RCMP received a call alleging a male RCMP member had sexually assaulted a woman, saida news release from Nova Scotia's police watchdog, the Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT).

According to the release, the alleged victim and the RCMP officer knoweach other.

No otherdetailshave been made public.

Theinvestigation has been handed over to SIRT.

RCMPsay they aren't commenting on the case because SIRT is handling it.
