One person dead after Highway 105 crash on Kellys Mountain

RCMP say Highway 105 on Kellys Mountain is closed by a crash involving a transport truck and another vehicle.

Nova Scotia RCMPsay one person is deadfollowing a crash involvingatransport truck and a car on Highway 105 in Cape Breton.

Police said they were called to the scene on Kellys Mountainaround 9:03 a.m. Tuesday. The driver of the car, a 45-year-old woman from Victoria County,was killed in the crash.

RCMP advise thatboth lanes on Kellys Mountain, a roughly 20-minute drive northeast of Baddeck,are now closed.

Police said the transport truck was heavily damaged, but the driver, a 47-year-old man from Hants County, was not injured. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Motoristsshould expect significant delays whiletravelling in the area, near Exit 12 to Englishtown and Ingonish.

Sgt. Andrew Joyce, an RCMP spokesperson, said "it's looking like it's going to be a long time" before travel can resume through the area.

Acollision re-constructionist is at the scene, according to Joyce, andthecrash remains under investigation.
