RCMP arrest 2 as search for wanted Colchester County man continues

RCMP in Nova Scotia's Colchester County have arrested two people in connection with thesearch for a man wanted on chargesincluding assault and unlawful confinement.

An arrest warrant was issued last month for Michael Roland Sinton, 26, of Upper Brookside, N.S. He remained at large as of Thursday.

The investigationled officers to a home Thursday in Upper Brooksidewhere they seized a number of firearms and ammunition.

A 65-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman were arrested. Police said they face charges of obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact for allegedly helping Sinton avoid arrest.

Both were released on conditions and will return to Truro provincial court to answer the charges at a later date.

RCMP have focused their search for Sintonthis week in the area of Nuttby, N.S., after receiving a reporton the morning of Nov. 22that Sinton wasthreatening to harm a woman he knowsand himself.

Sinton, whois believed to be armed, drove into the woods in Nuttby, about 25 kilometres north of Truro,on a green ATV, police said ina news release.

Sinton also faces charges of uttering threats, mischief, break and enter with intent and offences related to the operation of a motor vehicle for alleged incidents between May 2018 and January 2020. Police saidthe investigation into the Nov. 22 incident is ongoing and no charges have been laid in that matter.

Sinton is described as fivefeet seveninches, 180 pounds andhas reddish facial hair and green eyes.Anyone who sees Sintonshouldstay away from him and call police.
