RCMP Major Crimes unit, with help of the medical examiner's office, has confirmed that remains found on Tuesday in Colchester County belong to 20-year-old Melissa Dawn Peacock.

In a release, RCMP said the remains were identified using dental records.

On Wednesday, two brothers were chargedwith Peacock's murder.

Twenty-four-year-old Dustan Preeper and 20-year-old Joshua Preeper are charged with first-degree murder.

Peacock left her home in Dartmouth at about 7:30 p.m on Nov. 7, 2011. Her mother, Ruth Slauenwhite, said Peacock kissed her, said she loved her, and that she wouldn't be gone long.

Peacock later began sending puzzling text messages, saying she would spend the night in the country, though she didn't want to be there.

Police traced her cellphone, and found she had been in a car headed north on Highway 354 after midnight.

Police have not revealed where her remains were found.
