Police say at least 3 are dead following a suspicious fire in the Halifax area Wednesday afternoon, but the number of victims remains unclear

Police say two of the three people found dead after a Halifax-area house fire were the victims of homicide.

"Investigators with the homicide unit of the integrated criminal investigation division have determined an 81-year-old man and a 54-year-old women found by emergency responders were murdered," said Cpl. Greg Church in a media release.

The cause of death for thethird person remains under investigation.

A 30-year-old man wasarrested Thursday morning after ramming two police carsin the Milford area, located about 55 kilometres northeast of Halifax.

The house on the OldGuysboroughRoad near WysesCorner, N.S., was fully engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say at around 12:45 a.m. Thursday, a man was arrested in connection to the fire after he rammed two police vehicles with his car in the Milford area, located about 55 kilometres northeast of Halifax.

Five Halifax Regional Fire andEmergency stations responded, along with firefighters from theEnfieldand Stewiacke stations.

Ten trucks and30 firefighters fought the fire. Halifax spokesmanBrendan Elliott saidthe integrated Halifax Regional Police & RCMP Integrated Major Crime unit are investigating the scene.
