Nova Scotia's weekend weather will be cloudy, with rain coming late Sunday

Weather conditions will remain quiet tonight and for much of the weekend, although it looks like a low pressure system moving up the St. Lawrence River Valley will bring rainy and windy weather Sunday night into Monday.

Monday's temperatures may be a mild 6 C to 10 C across the province

Weather conditions will remain quiet tonight and for much of the weekend, although it looks like a low pressure system moving up the St. Lawrence River Valley will bring rainy and windy weather Sunday night into Monday.

Tonight, there will be cloudy or increasingly cloudy skies and a few isolated flurries may develop for Cape Breton and the northeast of the mainland.

Winds will continue out of the north and northeast between 10 km/h and 20 km/h. Low temperatures of 10 C to 6 C can be expected, except along the South Shore where it will be 6 C to 2 C.

Saturday

Saturday will be mostly cloudy with occasional peeks of sunshine. There's a chance of very light flurries around Cape Breton and the northeast of the mainland.

Winds will still be from the northeast, and should top out between 15 km/h and 20 km/h. Afternoon high temperatures will be 2 C to 3 C, and it will be warmest on the southwestern coastline.

Sunday

On Sunday, it will be a mix of sun and cloud to start the day with increasing cloudiness in the afternoon and evening. Afternoon temperatures will be 0 C to 4 C.

Rain will develop Sunday night and move through Monday morning and afternoon. General rainfall amounts of 15 to 30 millimetres are expected.

Melting snow, the frozen ground and the rain may contribute to standing water on parts of the roads so be careful driving and walking.

South and southeast winds will accompany the rain and may gust between 60 km/h and 80 km/h, with local gusts near 100 km/h for Inverness County in Cape Breton.

The southerly direction of the winds will continue to warm us into Monday morning and it looks like we will be starting next week with temperatures in therange of 6 C to 10 C across the province.
