Where, when and how to watch Nova Scotia's Olympians competing in Rio

Some of Canada's best athletes are getting ready to compete in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, which officially startthis weekend.

The Rio Olympics run from Aug. 5 to 21, and nineathletes from Nova Scotia are taking part.

If you're wondering where you can watch this province's athletes compete, check out their details below.

This list consists of all scheduled events the athletes could compete in, but they will only make it to the final events if they make it through the qualifiers first.

The list is in alphabetical order by last name.

Ellie Black

The Halifax-native gymnastics athlete competedin her second Olympics this summer.

Black, 20, competedsolo and with the women's artistic gymnastics teamon Aug. 7. Sheplaced fifth inthe individual all-roundfinals the best-ever finish for Canada.

Ryan Cochrane

Mark de Jonge

Halifaxnative Mark de Jonge is considered one of the favourites in his event. He's consideredone of Canada's gold-medal hopefuls.

Eric Gillis

The only Nova Scotian on Canada's 65-person Olympic track team, Rio is the third Olympic competition for Eric Gillis.

The 36-year-old was born in Antigonish but now lives in Guelph, Ont.

Genevieve Orton

This is Genevieve Orton's firstOlympics. The 32-year-old kayaker, from Lake Echo, N.S., qualified for the Canadian team in June.

Orton and her teammate Kathleen Fraser ranked 10th in the women's kayak double 500 metre semifinals. They will compete in the consolation finals on Aug. 16.

Sydney Pickrem

Erin Rafuse

Partnering with Danielle (Dannie) Boyd, Halifax'sErin Rafuse, 27, is competing in a brand-new competition added for Rio; this 49erFX event on Guanabara Bay will be the first time the event has been at the Olympics.

Graeme and Jacob Saunders

The Saunders brothers are planning to take a little bit of Nova Scotia with them to Rio.

Jacob and Graeme Saunders are from Chester, and will be sailing a boat of the same name as their hometown at theirfirst-ever Olympics.

The pair are17th after their race on Aug. 14.
