MLA Alfie MacLeod sidelined by 'serious infection'

Alfie MacLeod, a PC MLA in Cape Breton, has been hospitalized as he fights an infection.

"I fully expect to be back on the job full-time, as soon as my health permits," he said in a news release Saturday.

MacLeod, 58, represents the district of Sydney River-Mira-Louisbourg. He said his office will be open as usual during his absence.

MacLeod is being treated at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. He didn't give details, but said it was a "serious infection."
