Man shot in Fairview

A 41-year-old man was taken to a Halifax hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg early Saturday afternoon after three to four shots were fired inside a Fairview business, police say.

A 41-year-old manwas taken toa Halifax hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg early Saturday afternoon after three to four shots were fired inside a Fairview business, police say.

Theshooting happened around 1:30 p.m.at a small strip mall at the corner of Titus Avenue and Main Avenue, Halifax Regional Police Staff Sgt. Barb Saunders said.

Three people were taken into custodyfor questioning at 2:03 p.m., after police stopped a silver-coloured vehicle on Alderney Drive in Dartmouth, she said.

A second male went to hospital with a gun shot wound at 3:17 p.m., Saunders said.

Police now believe that the man who was found wounded in the Fairview business was an innocent bystander, while the second man who drove himself to hospital was the intended target, Saunders said.

The Integrated HRP/RCMP General Investigative Unit has been called in to continue the investigation and forensic identification members are currently at the scene.

Several witness whowereinside the business and neighbouring businesses heard three to four shots fired, Saunders said. The witnessessawtwo black males and one black femalefollowed by another black male who ran after them. They fled in a silver car.

Yellow police tape has been put up across the entire mall, including a barber shop where it is believed the man was shot.

A white car in the parking lot has also been taped off, and it appears four markers have been placed around the outside of the vehicle.

Halifax police officers are gathering statements from witnesses at the scene, trying toget more information.
