Lego mosaic wall at Discovery Centre getting help from Lego pro

Robin Sather has what many people would consider to be a dream job.

"Essentially, I get to play with Lego for a living," said Canada's only Lego certified professional.

He runs a company called Brickville DesignWorks, which uses "Lego bricks and products to produce events, displays, exhibits and custom creations," according to the companywebsite.

Sather, 50, has been playing with Lego since he was a child, but he's come a long way since the first time he received Lego,about 60 to 70 pieces,thatcame in a honey container from a thrift store.

"Once in a while, I'll do some creation and put one of those bricks in the creation," he said.

Sather still has Legopieces from his childhood, some of which have bite marks in them.

He's from Abbotsford, B.C., but is in Halifax to help start the construction of a massiveLego mosaic wall at the Discovery Centre.

The mosaicwill measure sixmetresby threemetresand feature more than 300,000 Lego pieces, making it Canada's largest Lego mosaic.

On Wednesday, a family-friendly event was held to help build the mosaic, which will consist of 8,912 individual panels.

The mosaic is based on a design by Nova Scotia painter Holly Carr. What it will look like is unknown except to insiders.

"The image will reveal itself," said Sather.

The mosaic won't be finished until May, although Sather won't be here at the time.
