Judge holds off bail ruling in stolen artifacts case

The man at the centre of a huge artifacts theft case will spend at least a few more days in jail while a judge considers his application for bail.

John Tillman was arrested after police raided his Fall River home in January. Inside, police recovered thousands of items, including missing artifacts from museums and libraries.

Tillman was charged with nine counts of possession of stolen property.

He now faces a new charge of perjury and counselling to commit perjury. The reasons behind those two charges are covered by a publication ban.

Judge Patrick Curran will spend the next few days deciding whether he'll agree to release Tillman. Hell announce his decision Thursday.

Tillman has been in the Burnside jail since his arrest in January.
