Halifax Transit shutdown to continue into Thursday morning

The shutdown of Halifax Transit's buses and Access-A-Bus service will continue into Thursday morning.

The city says a decision about if service can resume for the afternoon and eveningwill be made by noon on Thursday.

Halifax Transit ferries on both theAlderneyandWoodsideroutes will resume regular weekday servicetomorrow. The ferries were shut down today.

As well, the city has closed the Burnside Transit Centre as a precautionary measure because of a heavy snow load on the roof. The building will not reopen until the snow has been removed and the building is deemed to be safe for transit employees.

The Burnside Transit Centre is the location of approximately 60 per cent of Halifax Transit's fleet of buses,as well as the Access-A-Bus dispatch and scheduling office.

The city says that until access to the Burnside dispatch centre and buses is re-established, Halifax Transit will not be able to deliver regular bus or Access-A-Bus service.
