Halifax taxi driver faces another sexual assault charge

A taxi driver accused of sexual assaulting a passenger in July turned himself in to police Tuesday in relation to another alleged sexual assault incident that happened in June.

Accused has 2 court dates in September relating to incidents in June and July

A taxi driver accused of sexual assaulting a passenger in July turned himself in to police Tuesdayin relation to another alleged sexual assault incident that happened in June. He isnow facingadditional charges.

Police arrested Milad Houssen, 44, when he turned himself into police headquarters on GottingenStreet. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 8 in relation to aJuly 9 incident and on Sept. 27 to face anadditional chargerelating to aJune 4 incident.

"We're so thankful to the victims involved in these cases for coming forward and having the bravery to tell their story and to give us the information we needed to bring somebody before the courts," said Const. Dianne Woodworth, public information officer of Halifax Regional Police.

Sexual assault reports

On June 4at around1:00 a.m., police say, a man driving a taxi around Grafton and Blowers streets picked up a 25-year-old female passenger. It's alleged the driver touched the passenger in a sexual way before dropping her off.

On July 9at 2:50 a.m., police say, a taxi driver kissed and touched a 20-year-old woman in a sexual manner without her consent. In that incident, Halifax Regional Police found the driver and passenger and the driver was taken into custody without incident.A 44-year-old man from Halifax was charged with sexual assault.

It was during the investigation into the July 9 incident that investigators made a connection to the June 4 incident.
