Halifax shooting plot tips, videos and photos sought by police

Nova Scotia police want your photos, videos and tips about the people they're accusing of plotting a mass shooting in Halifax last week.

Sgt. Alain LeBlanc said the RCMP and Halifax Regional Police have already received tips about the two people facing charges 23-year-old Lindsay Kanittha Souvannarath from Geneva, Ill., and 20-year-old Randall Steven Shepherd from Halifax and James Gamble, the 19-year-old man found dead in Timberlea.

Many tips relate to the trio's online activity.

"To make it easier for citizens to submit photos, videos or tips, police have established an email address and website so information and images can be easily submitted directly to the investigators," LeBlanc said in a news release Wednesday.

Police say a tip to Crime Stoppers thwarted the planned massacre, and people can send information that way at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), text TIP202 + message to 'CRIMES' (274637), or by secure web tips.

Souvannarath and Shepherd each face charges including conspiracy to commit murder.

The two are also each facing charges of:

• Conspiracy to commit arson.
• Conspiracy to use weapons for a dangerous purpose.
• Unlawfully conveying threats through social media.

Crown attorney Shauna MacDonald alleged the arson charge was "part of the [pair's] plan," but would not elaborate further.

The two appeared in court Tuesday and the case was put over to March 6.
