Boil water advisory lifted for some Halifax-area residents

A boil water advisoryfor the Fall River, Windsor Junction and Waverley areas has been lifted, according to Halifax's water utility.

In a release, Halifax Water said two consecutive days of favourable samples have to be presented to Nova Scotia's Environment Department and the medical officer of health before the advisory can be lifted.

These results were received on Sunday and Monday, so Halifax Water confirmed that the advisory had been lifted as of 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Halifax Water's release said impacted customers now do not need to boil their water, but they should flush any cold water taps for 10 minutes before using it.

Fridges or other appliances that may store water should also be flushed for ten minutes.

The advisory was put in place on Saturday after a water main break that took place near the intersection of Cobequid Road and Glendale Drive in Lower Sackville.
