Halifax Regional Police have identified the victim of Tuesday night's fatal shooting on Gottingen Street as Naricho Clayton, and say they're looking for the man suspected of killing him.

Police say they're also investigating whether someone may have helped the suspect following the homicide.

The suspect has not been named. Police said on Thursday investigators are actively looking for him.

Around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to reports of gunfire. Clayton, a 23-year-old man from Dartmouth, was shot and killed.

A 31-year-old Halifax man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after the shooting, but police say his condition has improved.

Const. Dianne Woodworth said Clayton was known to police, but did notconfirm if Clayton and the suspect knew each other.

"Because we're not disclosing who the suspect is, we're not going to indicate if he was known to police," Woodworth said.

Police say Clatyon's shooting deathcould be connected to the death of Tyler Richards a former Halifax Rainmen player who was shot and killed over the weekend in west-end Halifax.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 902-490-5016 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
