Man pleads guilty to impaired driving causing death in Beaver Bank crash

Lloyd Cox, a 22-year-old man from Beaver Bank, N.S., has taken responsibility for killing two people and injuring a third in a car crash in the community last year.

He pleaded guilty to two charges of impaired driving causing death and one of impaired driving causing bodily harm.

Cox was driving a car with three passengers in it when it crashed on Beaver Bank Road around 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 8, 2015. No other cars were involved in the crash.

RCMPsaid the Honda Civicwas headed towards LowerSackvillewhen it went off the road, flipped and landed in a ditch.

A 21-year-old Beaver Bank man died at the scene, while a 22-year-old woman from Lower Sackville later died in hospital. A 19-year-old woman was also injured in the collision.

Cox himself was treated in hospital and then released.

He is also charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over .08 per cent causing bodily harm, and two counts of operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over .08 per cent causing death.

Those charges will be dealt with when he returns to court forsentencing on Jan. 10.
