Sydney's Chase the Ace sees no ace drawn for $1.3M jackpot

A woman in Sydney won about $240,000 atCape Breton's favourite card game Saturday.

With nine cards left, Saturday's jackpot was estimated to be $1.3 million. Because no ace was drawn, next week's will be around $1.6 million, organizers said.

Thousands of people were expected to attend the Chase the Ace draw after it underwent ahiatus due to ticket problems.

Tickets sales began at 2 p.m. Saturday and will continuefor four hours at eight locations around Sydney.

The event is being livestreamed by organizers and the draw itself happens at 6:30 p.m.

Theprovince's gaming division put the lottery on hold until organizers sorted out ticket problems following a draw that saw two people come forward with the same winning ticket number.

This weekend, therearenew seven-digit ticketswhich, organizers say, will prevent the problem from happening again.

They've alsoadded a newvenue for ticket sales, as well as extra security and more policing.

The event has been drawing thousands of peopleand organizers expectthe long weekend will boost attendance.

The eventis a fundraiser for theAshbylegion and the Horizon Achievement Centre, an organization that provides training and employment servicesfor adults with mental disabilities.
