Beaver Bank fatal crash leads to charges eight months later

RCMP have charged a man over a fatal car crash in Beaver Bank, N.S., last year.

RCMP have charged a man overa fatal car crash in Beaver Bank, N.S., last year.

Early on Oct.8, 2015, a car with four people inside crashed onBeaver Bank Road in the Halifax area. No other vehicles were involved.

A 21-year-old Beaver Bank mandied at the sceneand a 22-year-old Lower Sackville woman later died in hospital. A 19-year-old woman was also injured in the collision.

The driver of the car, 22-year-old man from Beaver Bank, was treated at hospital and released.

This week, Halifax RCMP arrested the driver following an eight-month investigation.

He faces many charges:

  • two counts of impaired driving causing death
  • two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death
  • one count ofimpaired driving causing bodily harm
  • one count of dangerous driving causing bodily harm

He is also charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over .08 per cent causing bodily harm, and two counts of operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over .08 per cent causing death.

He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on June 27.

The single-vehiclecrash happened at around 1:30 a.m.near 2028 Beaver Bank Rd.

Police saythe Honda Civicwas travelling toward Lower Sackvillewhen it went off the road and continued travelling for about 200 metres before coming to a stopin a ditchafter flipping and passing over a driveway.
