A second person has died after a car crash early Sunday morning in Beaver Bank that killed a 21-year-old man, say Halifax RCMP.

Police said Monday afternoon that a 22-year-old Lower Sackville woman haddied of her injuries.

A second woman remains in hospital in critical condition, say police.

The women and the 21-year-old man were passengers in a Honda Civic that crashed on Beaver Bank Road around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday.

The driver of the car has been released from hospital.

RCMP said the car was headed towards Lower Sackville when it went off the road. While off the road, the car travelled 200 metres, flipped a few times, then stopped after slamming into a ditch.

Two people were thrown from the vehicle when it crashed.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. They're also examining how much of a role speed may have played.

RCMP closed a section of Beaver Bank Road near the 2000-block for several hours on Sunday.
