Banned puppy seller to spend another night in jail

An infamous Nova Scotia puppy broker who appeared in court Monday to face an assault charge will spend another night in jail.

An infamous Nova Scotia puppy broker whoappeared in Dartmouth court Monday to face an assault charge will spend another night in jail.

Gail Benoit was arrested over the weekend, and was seeking bail. She faces an assault chargeand failing to comply with bail conditions.

The Crown is willing to release Benoit but the person offering to pay her bail is unavailable until Tuesday.

She is accused of assaulting Joshua Robinson in Dartmouth but the Crown won't discussthe relationship between the two.

Shewill spend another nightin custody at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility.

Benoit is due back in court later this month to enter a plea on the charge of stealing two dogs from New Brunswick.

She's charged with fraud, theft under $5,000 and identity fraud in a case involving two white boxers she was supposed to be looking after for a New Brunswick woman.

Benoit is prohibited from buying, selling or giving away any animal.

In January 2009, she was found guilty of two counts of animal cruelty for selling sick and malnourished dogs.
