3 Nova Scotians in running for Governor General's Awards

Three Nova Scotia writers have been nominated for Governor Generals Literary Awards.

Novelist Lesley Choyce, poet Georgette LeBlanc, Maria Mutch nominated

Three Nova Scotia writers have been nominated for Governor Generals Literary Awards.

Lawrencetown writer Lesley Choyce is nominated in the English-language childrens literature category for his novel Jeremy Stone, the story of a First Nations teenager who moves from a residential school to a new community.

Pointe-de-l'glise poet Georgette LeBlanc is in the running forthe French-language poetry category with her work, Prudent.

Maria Mutch, who was born in Halifax and currently lives in Rhode Island is nominated in the non-fiction category for Know the Night: A Memoir of Survival in the Small Hours.

Winners will be announced Nov. 18.
