3 people arrested, 1 still wanted after apparent handgun incident in Whitehorse

Three people have been arrested and police are asking the public for help to find a fourth person, after anincident in downtown Whitehorse Thursday evening and an all-night manhunt.

Police said in a news release that they received several calls from residents about a black Dodge Ram in the downtown on Thursday. The occupants of the vehicle were pointing a handgun and driving recklessly, police said.

Police found the vehicle on Thursday evening outside an off-sales liquor store. Officers attempted to arrest the driver, but he fled on foot "and later by conveyance," the release says.

RCMP say they later found the suspects in their vehicle on the highway outside Carcross, Yukon. Three passengers were arrested, but the driver again ran away.

Police said they found an imitation handgun in the vehicle.

In a late night Thursday news release, police asked anyone who sees a man fitting the following description to call 911 immediately:

• Five feet 10inches tall.
• Average build.
• A goatee.
• Wearing a blue ball cap, grey hooded sweatshirt, grey sweat pants.

"Do not approach this man and call911immediately," the news release said.

Police said Friday thatthey searched through the night for the driver, with help from RCMPPolice Dog Service.

In a subsequent news release Friday morning, police said the search was concluded but they were still asking the public for help to find the driver.

No further details were provided. CBC has requested an interview with the RCMP on the matter.
