Yukon MLA Darius Elias charged with refusing breathalyzer test

YukonMLA Darius Eliashas been charged with refusing to comply with a policebreathalyzerrequest.

RCMP charged theVuntutGwitchinMLA on Thursday oflast week the final day of the spring session of the Yukon legislative assembly.

Elias sits as a Yukon Partybackbencher for the community of Old Crow. He was elected as a Liberal in 2011. left the party to sit as an independent in 2012, and then joined the Yukon Party in 2013.

There's been no comment from the cabinet office and callers to his office are told he is not at work today.

Elias' first court appearance is scheduled for July 16.
