A Yukon business consortium says it is willing to work with Whitehorse residents to come up with a plan to save the Mount Sima ski hill.

Northern Vision Development owns a number of hotels and commercial properties in the city.

Rich Thompson, the companys CEO, said saving the ski hill is in the best interest of the entire community.

"We've talked with people about everything from how this can be managed at lower cost to the public and we've also looked at whether there might be some creative solutions," he said.

"For example, perhaps if there were an opportunity to develop lands around Mount Sima, there might be a creative solution."

The ski hill has been managed by volunteer members of the Great Northern Ski Society.

That group has set a deadline of Sept. 1 to come up with a plan to save the coming ski season.
