Yellowknife homeless day shelter finds new home

Yellowknife's homeless day shelter is scheduled to reopen in October in the old Polar Parka building at 49 Street and 51 Avenue.

Yellowknife's homeless day shelter is scheduled to reopen Oct. 1in the old Polar Parka building at49 Street and 51 Avenue.

The shelter will be run by the N.W.T. Disabilities Council and the Yellowknife Health and Social Services Authority.

The original day shelter on 51 Street closed in May after the lease on the property ran out.

There are plans for programs and support services to be added to the day shelter's mandate, but the Yellowknife Health and Social Services Authority said the new shelter won't have the programsin place yet whenit reopens.
