Police hold home in Yellowknife after concerning powder found

RCMP and fire crews have contained a home on Yellowknifes Borden Drive after powder that caused some concern was found during the execution of a search warrant.

'No one's charged, no one's taken into custody,' said sergeant in charge of federal investigations

RCMP and fire crews have contained a home on Yellowknife's Borden drive after "powder that caused some concern" was found during the execution of a search warrant.

"No one's charged, no one's taken into custody," said Dean Riou, the sergeant in charge of federal investigations.

A search was conducted on Saturday morningand the home was held by police, the Fire Department, as well as members of the RCMP Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response (CLEAR) Team from British Columbia and Alberta, which deals with the removal and identification of hazardous drugs like fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Riou would not say what drugs were found inside the residence, or if it was serving as adrug processing facility.

Riou would not comment on whether anyone was inside the house when police entered, but said there is no danger to the public.
