Woman searches for lost brother's body outside Tsiigehtchic

A Tsiigehtchic woman is resuming her search for the body of her brother who went missing on the Mackenzie River last September.

A Tsiigehtchic woman is resuming her search for the body of herbrother who went missing on the Mackenzie River last September.

"If it takes all summer I won't be giving up," Julie-Ann Andre said.

Her brother, Danny Andre, went missingon September 23, 2015, alongwith another man.

A capsized canoe was laterfound about five kilometres from Tsiigehtchic.Fishing gear and other supplies found with the canoe led police to believe the two men had fallen into the river and drowned.

"I just don't believe that he died in the water," said Andre.

"He was too strong of a swimmer. And he needs his body to be found."

Andre said there are signs that something elsehappened to her brother. His cabin wasleft unsecured and his dogs were left unattended which she sayswas out of character for him.

"Danny had always made sure everything was done before he left the cabin for any length of time," Andre said.

She plans to head out today to search for her brother and is appealing tovolunteers forhelp. She's also seeking donations for fuel.

Andre has invited the RCMP to come out but she said the police force declined.
