Shirtless Whitehorse firefighters are striking poses with Mae Bachur shelter animals this week for a 2015fundraisingcalendar.

FirefighterToreyWiebe, one of the volunteer models for the calendar, says local firefighters want to take part in activities that help the community.

His dogKonacame from the shelter so he says he appreciated to chance to be part of the calendar.

"It's just something I wanted to do since I decided I wanted to become a firefighter," Wiebe said.

"I wanted to promote the things we do and there are different ways of doing that and this is a positive way."

Firefighter NicholasO'Carrollsays his wife suggested doing a project with the shelter and the calendar is the result. He says sponsors are helping cover the production costs.

"All the money raised, 100 percent of the proceeds, is going to go to MaeBachur, helping the dogs out with the facilities, and going to their Bella fund to help with medical costs."

O'Carrollsays the calendars should be on sale in October.
