United flight stops in Whitehorse for extra fuel

A United Airlines flight made an unscheduled stop at Whitehorse Airport Monday night.

United spokespersonCharlie Hobartsays Flight 1651 was on a scheduled flight from Chicago to Anchorage, butthe plane encountered strong head winds enroute.

Hobart says the crew opted to make a stop in Whitehorse for extra fuel.

The flight arrived about an hour and 45 minutes late in Anchorage without further incident.
