Sketch released of suspect in Somba K'e park sexual assault

Police have released a sketch of the suspect in a Yellowknife sexual assault.

The sketch is of the suspect related to the Sept. 7 sexual assault in Somba Ke park.In that incident, a woman told police she was sitting on a swing atthe park when she wasapproached from behind by an intoxicated man.

The man reached from behind and tried to touch her breasts. She pushed him and yelled and he backed off.

The man was described as aboriginal, 3035 years old, with a round face, shaggy, slightly curly hair, clean shaven and wearing a white T-shirt with blue jeans.

Police ask anyone with information to contact the Yellowknife RCMP at 867-669-1111 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Safety meeting tonight

In the past three months, six sexual assaults have been reported by RCMP in Yellowknife and that has some people questioning how safe they are in the city.

Officials from the Department of Justice, the RCMP, the City of Yellowknife and the Health Department are holding a public meeting tonight at Northern United Place at Franklin Avenue and 54th Street. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
