Search underway for overdue boaters headed to Lutselk'e

A search is underway on Great Slave Lake for a group of boaters reported overdue in Lutselk'e, N.W.T.

4 adults and a child left Yellowknife Saturday

A search is underway on Great Slave Lake for a group of boaters reported overdue in Lutselk'e, N.W.T.

RCMP say four adults and a child left Yellowknifefor Lutselk'e on Saturday, travelling ina white,18-foot aluminum boat.

This morning, relatives in Lutselk'ealerted authorities that the group was overdue.

RCMP, the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association and the military are helping with the search.

Operation Nunakput, an annualCanadian Forces maritimesovereignty patrol, began yesterdayon Great Slave Lake. Vessels and personneltaking part in the operation have been diverted to help with thesearch.

A Twin Otter from Yellowknife's 440 Squadron is helping with an aerial search betweenYellowknife andLutselk'e along normal routes used by residents.
