Royal visit to Yukon to celebrate First Nations communities, arts, culture

Kensington Palace has released a more detailed itinerary for Prince William and his wife Kates visit to Canada, which it says will 'help celebrate Canadas First Nations communities, its art and culture.'

Palace confirmed William and Kate's children will join them on Canadian tour

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, pose with their children, Princess Charlotte and Prince George. The whole family will embark on a Canadian tour this month.

Kensington Palace has released a more detailed itinerary for Prince William and his wife Kate's visit to Canada, which it says will "help celebrate Canada's First Nations communities, its art and culture."

The news release confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridgewill bring their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, on the tour.

After several stops in B.C., they'll arrive in Whitehorse on Sept. 27.

Thefamily will be greeted by KwanlinDnChiefDorisBillandTa'anKwch'nChiefKristinaKane, as well as members of theCanadian Rangers and Junior Canadian Rangers.

That evening, they'll watch a cultural performance at the Kwanlin Dn Cultural Centre, before staying the night in Whitehorse.

"Yukon's exceptional hospitality will be on display, andYukonerscan expect to participate in a number of exciting community events,"YukonPremier Darrell Pasloski said in a news release on Monday.

On Sept. 28, the couple will get "a real chance to see the natural beauty of Yukon and to learn about its people," the palace said.

They'll visit the MacBride Museum, where they'll learn about Yukon's history, and then take part in a "colourful and fun party" on Main Street. There will be music and local food to showcase the city's arts scene.

"City staff are proud to be supporting this historical event that I believe residents will be talking about for many years," Whitehorse Mayor Dan Curtis said in the release.

Sights and sounds of Carcross

William and Kate will then travel to the community ofCarcross, which will give thema chance to see the views along the Klondike Highway, before heading to the Carcross Commons for a traditional welcome from the Carcross/Tagish First Nation. They'lltour the area and meetpeople in the community.

"Right now, the impact on the community, I'm feeling it already. People around here are busy, we're scurrying around doing the planning the pre-planning and whatnot."

The couple will thentravel to Montana Mountain apicturesque mountain biking trail systemand meetwith youth taking part in Single Track to Successa community wellness program that gets kids out on the land.TheDuke and Duchess will make their way down the track before saying goodbye to people in the community.

The royal family will then head back to the Whitehorse airport and travel on to Victoria, B.C.

"British Columbia and Yukon are among the most beautiful places in the world and home to many Indigenous communities," the news release from Kensington Palacesaid.

"They want to help the people of British Columbia and Yukon to celebrate what makes Canada great and to showcase some amazing places to the rest of the world."

The Duke and Duchess will wrap up their Canadian tour on Oct. 1.
