RCMP investigate sexual assault in Yellowknife

A woman in Yellowknife has reported a sexual assault. She told police she was sitting on a swing at Somba k'e park and was groped from behind by an intoxicated man.

There's another report of a sexual assault in Yellowknife.

This is the sixth incident of its kind reported in less than two months.

A woman told police she was sitting on a swing atSombak'epark on Saturday, September 7, when she wasapproached from behind by an intoxicated man.

Corporal Roxanne Hudym is with the Yellowknife RCMP.

"(The man) reached from behind and tried to touch her breasts. She pushed him and yelled at her and so he backed off," she said.

RCMP said the man left on foot with another man in the direction of downtown. The woman was not injured.

The man is described as aboriginal, 30 to 35 years old, with a round face and shaggy, slightly curly hair.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a white t-shirt with blue jeans.
