N.W.T. Husky oil camp gets stop-work order lifted

The National Energy Board has lifted a stop work order against a Husky Energy oil camp in the Northwest Territories following the submission of a plan to bring the company's operations into full regulatory compliance.

Earlier in the week, theboard ordered Husky to suspend operationsat its Slater River oil exploration camp in N.W.T.s Mackenzie Valley.

The board issued the safety order after a routine inspection. It said Husky Oil had failed to ensure the safety of its personnel and used unsafe equipment and procedures, including failing to report a worker's injury on time.

It also said the company violated the Canada Oil and Gas Operations Act.

In a written statement, Husky Oil said it took matter very seriously and suspended operations in the Slater River area to conduct a safety review. All workers continued to be paid.
