2 missing boaters found safe on Great Slave Lake's East Arm

Two boaters missing on Great Slave Lake have been found safe, say Yellowknife RCMP. It was the third search and rescue in two days.

Two boaters missing on Great Slave Lake have been found safe, sayYellowknifeRCMP.

The two left Yellowknife Tuesday for Lutselk'e, travelling in a 16-foot boat.

They were reported missing Wednesday night when they failed to arrive at their destination.

This was the third search and rescue incidenton the East Arm ofGreat Slave Lake in two days.

Four adults and one child reported overdue while travelling by boat to Lutselk'e were found Wednesday night on Ethan Island. Their boat had run out of fuel. Another group of boaters made a distress call early Wednesday morning after one of their boats sank in rough water conditions. No one was injured in either incident.

In a news release,RCMPStaff Sgt. BruceMcGregorurged people to take precautions when travelling on the lake.

"The RCMP is concerned citizens may be heading out on the water unprepared, unable to contact their loved ones or emergency personnel, or unaware of weather conditions. We urge people to always be prepared when heading out on the land or water."
