Jordin Tootoo's season over after wrist surgery

New Jersey Devils forward Jordin Tootoo is done for the season.

On Friday, the Devils announced Tootoo had surgery torepair a tear in his wrist, and will miss the Devils's last four remaining regular season games.

As of Friday, the Devils wereall but mathematically eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs, sitting seven points back of the Philadelphia Flyers for the last wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.

The 33-year-old Tootootallied four goals andninepointsin 66 games with the Devils this season. He averaged 11:31 of ice time every game, led the team with 102 penalty minutes,set a career-high with five power play points and a career-low with a minus 26 rating.

Tootoo, who grew up in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut,was the Devils'nominee for the NHL'sFoundation Player Award, given to a player who "applies the core values of hockey to enrich the lives of people in his community."

In May, the Devils re-signed Tootoo to a one-year, $825,000 contract.He will be eligible for free agency after this year.
