Fire strikes Inuvik, N.W.T., 6-plex

A fire at 22 Bonnetplume Road in Inuvik has destroyed a residential six-plex. A town official says the residents escaped unharmed.

A fire at 22 Bonnetplume Road in Inuvik, N.W.T., destroyed a residential six-plex on Saturday.

A city official told CBC News that all of the residents were able to escape the fire unharmed.

Fire crews were called to the scene at about 1:30 a.m.Saturday.

No one at the fire department was available to comment on the fire, but at noon there were still four pumpertrucks outside the Bonnetplume multiplexand heavy smoke was billowing from the building.

Grant Hood, the town's senior administrative officer,said thecause of the fire is not yet known.
