Woman dead after veering off road near Faro, Yukon

Police say speed and alcohol may have been factors in a crashlast week on Yukon'sRobert Campbell Highway.

MavisHurst, 40, was killed on Wednesday afterher vehicle went off the road between Faro and Carmacks. The Yukon Coroner's officesays Hurst lived just outside Faro, butwas originally from Inuvik, N.W.T.

Police say Hurst's Ford F-150 truck was found off the roadside embankment, with extensive damage. The woman's body was found nearby.

The truck appears to have been travelling westbound, towardsCarmacks, police said.

RCMP believe Hurstwas thrown from the vehicle because of the speed shewas travelling at. They also believe alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.

Yukon's Coroner Service and RCMPare still investigating.
