People in Inuvikwithout a warm bed to sleep inwill once again be able to find shelternow that town council has voted to donate its old Berger building to the damp shelter for $1.

The town's Emergency Warming Centrewelcomes clients whether they are sober or drunk.

The centre became homeless this summer when the Anglican Church said it could no longer house the clients, and questioned whether the centre was doing more harm than good.

Grant Hood, the town's senior administrative officer, says the town declined to accept the shelter's offer to pay $2,800.

Inuvik Ground Search and Rescue had also requested use of the abandoned Berger building, but they withdrew their request.

The town is trying to find a new building for them.
