Allen Gordon wins Ivakkak dog team race

Allen Gordon and Manngi Kooktook from Kuujjuaq, Que., have finished first in the 13th annual Ivakkak dog team race.

The pair arrived at the finish line in Tasiujaqat around 2:35 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

The 400-kilometre race began in Kangiqsujuaqon March 10.

The weather was co-operative for most of the of the race, butthe 11 teams of racers had to wait out blizzard conditions in Aupaluk before setting off on the final leg to Tasiujaq.

The first place finishers receive $20,000in prize money and gifts. The first five finishers also receive prizes.All of the racers receive gifts for participating.
